Purpose

Taught by an IBM engineer, the robotics class offers students an opportunity to design and construct a functioning robot, while understanding the motion components of motors, gear ratios, wheels, torque, and speed.

The students learned the building blocks of the VEX robotic system and learned to construct the chassis for the squarebot.  They also became familiar with the mechanical construction and function of primary components as they built their robots.  They continued to build their robot until they could move their robot through an obstacle course.
